Part 1 · Selling to MA-RU
Sell your watches to a Japanese buyer.
We sell in Japan through our own stores and domestic trade channels. Some references fetch more in Japan than in the wholesale market where you are, and on those we can offer above trade.

We inspect each watch against your description: serial, movement, case, bracelet and papers. If something does not match, we tell you and re-quote that piece. You decide whether to accept the new figure or take the watch back.

MA-RU pays your company by bank transfer for the pieces that passed inspection.

A watch leaving Japan usually passes from the owner to a shop, a wholesaler and an exporter, and each one takes a margin. We buy over our own counters in Japan, so there is only one.

Photos and a trade priceMA-RU
For each piece we can supply: the full photo set including serial and guarantee card, a plain condition note, and a written trade price. If it is not in stock, we look for it through our counters in Japan.

Confirm the pieces you want and MA-RU invoices your company. We hold those pieces for you while the payment is arranged.
PayYou
Bank transfer, company to company, to MA-RU Inc. (株式会社まーる). The watches are released once the funds have cleared.
Hand-overYou + MA-RU
The watches travel insured and tracked, by a route we have agreed with you in writing before you pay.

Why trade with MA-RU
A buyer and a seller with counters in Japan
Japan pays more for some references
We sell in Japan through our own stores and domestic trade channels. Some models fetch more there than in the wholesale market elsewhere, so when you sell to us we can sometimes offer above trade.
Supply bought over our own counter
The watches we sell were acquired at our KAITORA buying counters in Japan, handed over by the Japanese owner. You buy from the company that bought the watch, not the fourth dealer in the chain.
Authenticated, in both directions
We check movement, case, bracelet, serial and guarantee card against each other, using the same in-house system we license to our franchise stores. That applies to what we buy as much as to what we sell.
Licensed, and you can check it
Second-hand Dealer Licence No. 304402318473, issued by the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission. Legal counsel: Seika Law Office. Company name and registered address are at the bottom of this page. Check us before you move a watch or any money.

The Japanese guarantee card
The guarantee travels with the watch.
A watch sold new in Japan comes with a guarantee card stamped by the authorised retailer: model, serial number, date of purchase, shop name. It is the most useful piece of provenance a pre-owned watch can carry, and one reason Japanese stock trades well.
Where a watch we sell has its original card, the card goes with it and we photograph it for you first. Where it has no card, we say so and price it accordingly.

Before you move a watch or any money
Do you buy from private individuals?
Not outside Japan. Buying second-hand goods from a private person requires a Japanese address under the rules we operate under, so this page is for dealers, shops, platforms and full-time traders. If you live in Japan and want to sell a watch, our Japanese pages are for you.
Who pays first?
It depends on the direction. When you sell to us, you are paid after the watches have passed our inspection. When you buy from us, you see the photos, serials and the written price first, then pay, then the watches are released.
Why are there no prices on this page?
The market moves daily, and a trade price depends on the exact piece, its papers and the quantity. Send the references and we quote in writing.
How do you authenticate?
Movement, case, bracelet, serial and guarantee card are checked against each other, not one at a time, with the same in-house system we license to our franchise stores. When we sell, you get close-up photographs of the serial, the movement and the card before you pay.
Does the original guarantee card come with the watch?
Where the watch has its original Japanese guarantee card, the card goes with it and we photograph it for you first. Where a watch has no card, we say so and price it accordingly.
Can we talk by phone?
We work in writing on WhatsApp, Telegram or email, so every figure is on record. Once we are talking, a WhatsApp call is fine.
How do we know you are a real company?
We are MA-RU Inc. (株式会社まーる), registered at Tsuchiya Bldg. Shibuya 5F, 3-15-3 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0002, Japan, holding Second-hand Dealer Licence No. 304402318473 from the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission. We run buying stores in Japan. What about import duty and VAT?
Duty, VAT or GST at the destination are for the importing side and depend on the country and the goods. Please confirm with your own customs broker. We are not able to give tax advice.
